A Brief History of
I Can Has Cheezburger?
I Can Has Cheezburger? (ICHC for short) is the name of a weblog featuring LOLcats, which are comical pictures of cats with captions, and other animal images.
ICHC was created on January 11, 2007 when Eric Nakagawa and Kari Unebasami found a LOLcat with a now-famous grey fluffy cat, known as Happy Cat, meowing over the words, "I can has cheezburger?" in a style popularized by 4chan. It was silly, hilarious and struck a chord, and immediately, the two registered icanhascheezburger.com and started their site and allowed users to submit their own LOLCats.
ICHC was soon getting milions of page views month. A few months after launching the site, Ben Huh and a group of investors acquired the website for US $2 million. Huh wisely left things to the community and soon it was getting thousands of new submissions and millions of page views a day.
$CATE was created to memorialize the cat that made memes popular and showed the world that a happy cat can lead to $Millions.
